About
Hello, I am Rona, the person behind juanadelacruz.com. Zodiac sign is Gemini. I’m a middle child, an overall procrastinator and multitasker extraordinaire. I have major daddy issues and I need to be jacked up with 2 cups of kapeng barako (barako coffee) in the morning to start my day off. Without kapeng barako, I’m cranky and passive-aggressive. To say that I’m addicted to caffeine is an understatement. I once thought that coffee should come in IV bags. I like the films of Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino. I don’t get most of David Lynch’s films but I like them too. Zombie movies (George Romero, Braaaainnns!!!) are a guilty pleasure as well as movies with Ashley Judd or Sandra Bullock in it. I would watch anything that has the name Danny Boyle attached in it. I was gaga over The X-Files and once dressed up as Scully during a sci-fi convention. I regretted it. I so do not look good in a power suit. I was once a guitarist in an all-girl band during high school. My friends and I named our group “Sphagnum Core”. We got it from an ad of a popular sanitary napkin and it meant something like it’s some sort of a super absorbent thing. It sounded hardcore and feminine, which what we wanted to exude then. We played “Free to Decide” by The Cranberries because I insisted on it. I insisted on it because it has only 3 guitar chordsĀ — G, C and Am — and that is as far as my musical skills go. Our first and last performance was during our senior sports intramural closing program. I grew up reading Nancy Drew and listening to 80’s and 90’s music but when I discovered Led Zeppelin, I wished that I was born during the 70’s. My favorite Led Zeppelin song is “In My Time of Dying”. It is 11 minutes and 4 seconds long. Every time I listen to it, when the song hits at 6:36, I stop and give it my full attention. I get a high when it hits at exactly 8:36 and it’s just crazy onwards until the song ends. It makes me want to find a mosh pit (you kiddies won’t know what a “mosh pit” is unless you’ve been into a grunge concert during the 80’s) or trash anything breakable. Rock and roll!
