Traditionally, Babies Are Dropped In India

Baby DropYeap. In Karnataka, India, they drop babies from a 9 meter-high Hindu temple onto a blanket held by a crowd dancing and singing below. This is an old ritual which they practice every first week of December. Almost 200 babies are dropped every year.

It’s about frikkin time that their government officials have called for a ban on what they call a ‘cruel practice’. I don’t know how they finally came to their senses. I’m guessing they have finally heard about Shaken Baby Syndrome which oh you know, can only lead to uh, say — DEATH and or PERMANENT BRAIN DAMAGE.

It is said that the circus act renders long life and prosperity to the child and family. Sure, belief and all. Go for it. Unless of course if the baby wasn’t caught on the blanket or the blanket ripped apart or the baby bounced off and gets thrown into a trash bin instead, that’s another thing.

If only Britney Spears lived in India, she wouldn’t have it hard when she “almost” dropped her baby from her arms years ago.

And ooh, found this hilarious game. Turn the volume up. Play it while listening to a slightly edited “Oops I Did It Again” in midi: Britney Spears Baby Drop!
